About

Rangiora Equine Services is a specialised equine veterinary practice offering high quality and professional care to horses throughout the Canterbury region since 2007.

Our vets have over 25 years experience between them, and are all "horse people" outside of work. We enjoy working with horses of all disciplines, and aim to deliver the same high standard of veterinary care to a backyard pony as to a cup-winning racehorse. We treat polo ponies, sporthorses, racehorses, broodmares, foals, geriatrics, children's ponies and even the occasional donkey, and offer all aspects of veterinary care from stud work to lameness to routine preventative medicine.

Dr Becky Sutorius BVSc (Massey University 2000)
Becky is the practice owner, founder and principal veterinarian. She grew up riding and competing on horses, and has a keen racing interest, having bred and trained both trotters and gallopers, and brings this in-depth knowledge of the industry to enhance her years of veterinary experience in assessing performance, treating racing injuries and performing thorough and accurate pre-purchase examinations.  She is a very experienced equine veterinarian for horses of all disciplines, with particular interests in sports medicine, lameness and reproductive technologies. Before starting Rangiora Equine Services, Becky worked in equine practice in several locations in the South Island. Becky has her amateur drivers licence, and has worked under both galloper and trotting horse trainers in her formative years.
Dr Lasmai NicholsonBVSc (Massey University 2018), BSc (Massey University 2014)
Lasmai has been an equine vet for 3 years, and after completing an internship in Kildare, Ireland (the heart of TB breeding) and 18 months in the Waikato she has decided to return to the South Island. Outside of work Lasmai enjoys skiing and hiking and is looking forward to getting back into eventing. Being exposed to a varied case load over the last few years her particular interests include reproduction and foal medicine and radiography. You'll see Lasmai out and about with her best pal- golden retriever Dexter.
